Title: PHILOSOPHIZING THE JOB’S I-PHONE: OFFSHOOT/ING OF CHARLES TAYLOR’S STORY-TELLING CONCEPT OR PAUL RICOEUR’S EMPLOTMENT?

Statement:

This autumn the Gea College in Ljubljana – Slovenia organized exclusive conference on scientific entrepreneurship. The venue was held in Novotel Hotel (November 08. – 09., Venice – Mestre Castellana) – a place not so far from the very centre of the town of Mestre, for which Italians say that is quite important merchant zone of the Northern Italy.

With its worldly known architectural “pearl” – the old city of Venice (or in Ital. Venezia) attracts not only tourists from all around the world, but scientist and businessmen, too. And the ABSRC Conference is firm proof of that of how tourism, entrepreneurship, science and business can gather academics from distant places (e. g. JAR, Finland, USA), as well as from neighbour countries (e. g. Slovenia, Croatia) eager to share their scientific, entrepreneurial, academic or governmental and public experience with experts from various scientific disciplines (Management, Entrepreneurship, Law, Philosophy etc.).

I myself was honoured being invited from the Slovenian organizer, and had opportunity during the conference sessions to show the place of Philosophy within digital industry of smart phones, with an emphasis on Apple’s the most purchasing product in the world: i-Phone.

My thesis is that the Jobs’s story of i-Phone 2007 is deeply rooted in the concept of philosophic hermeneutics based on moral ontology of what – tracing Einstein – we might call “time-spaced capsule”. With its digital technology and the structure of the operating system (IOS – software) i-Phone is reflection of one’s (personal) identity.
